25 Apr Among The Sleep won the NGA Hype award!
But first, a little recap of the recent crazy days.
5 days ago, after sacrificing the wonderful easter weather and our eardrums so that we could attend “The Gathering”, we ventured into this dark chasm of light and sound.
With over 6000 attendees during 4 days, TG is one of Europe’s biggest LAN-parties. A rather new initiative at TG is the creative lounge, which purpose is to generate an appealing environment for everyone prioritizing creative work above playing games. After seeing what was created by the incredibly talented people staying in this area, we do not regret our area of choice.
Scattered in between the long sessions of work some highlights include Simon McCallum‘s great seminars, getting blown away by a hypnotics show as sceptics, some mind blowing demo-shows and a very inspirational 13 year old game developer talking elegantly about the difficulties of creating games.
Another major highlight was watching our very talented friends Anne-Marte Markussen (2d-artist), Bjørnar Frøyse (3d-artist) and Tina Alfredsen (2d-artist) winning the 1st places in the competitions of their respective fields.
And now for the cup of juice (barrel for us). In cooperation with TG, The Norwegian Game Awards sensibly held their Hype-award at Norway’s biggest gathering of people interested in games. After having presented our literally dark project on a very light projector screen, we did not expect to stand a chance.
Nevertheless, we actually won! Great thanks to the jury and everyone that voted for us. And of course, congratulations to the guys at Sidetrack Games and a great bow of respect to Liam Svanåsbakken Crouch for respectively 2nd and 3rd place.
We would like to thank all the participants at The Gathering 2011 for a great experience. We’ll see you next year 😉
